Using Whisper Light™️ Bond for Lash Longevity

One of the most commonly asked questions after someone finds Lashify is: How long does a lash set last?!

The great thing about the Lashify system is that you get to choose! Whether you want to wear a lash set for just a day or for 10 days, you can do it! Most people want longevity right off the bat, but then realize that having the flexibility to do whatever makes sense in the moment is one of the best benefits of this patented DIY system.

As a professional makeup artist of 20 years, I’ve worked with many different lash systems and many types of bonds and adhesives. I have found Lashify's patented system to be truly unique and innovative, and I discovered that in order to have a successful application, I had to understand how the bonds behaved and how to work with them.

The secret to Lashify is…are you ready for this???…

Layering the bonds and allowing each layer to get tacky before moving on to the next step!

Hundreds of applications and hundreds of hours spent in 1:1 sessions with Lashify clients have proven that this is truly the secret to a great application! We’ve found that 95% of new clients that come to our 1:1 troubleshooting sessions only need to slow down during their application, use less bond, and work with lighter layers in order to get the lash hold they are looking for.

Based on personal eye chemistry, some people only need a minimal amount of product, and others require a few extra steps. Either way, the basic principles are the same and minor tweaks are what make the difference for different individuals.

One of our most popular bonding methods, which you can achieve right out of the Control Kit®, the Lashify starter kit, is the Lockdown Method. The Lockdown Method, is a simple, triple bonding method (three light layers of bond) that is easy and flexible enough for the new user to learn how to use the system, helps to ensure that the amount of product is being used, and provides a great hold!

Here is a quick step-by-step breakdown of the Lockdown Method:

  1. Apply a light coat of Black Whisper Light™️ to the natural lashes.
  2. Allow the bond to get tacky for 30-60 seconds.
  3. Apply a light coat of Black Whisper Light to the base of the natural lashes.
  4. Allow the bond to get tacky for 30-60 seconds.
  5. Dot a light coat of Clear Whisper Light along the underside of the natural lashes, about 1-2 mm away from the water line.
  6. Allow the bond to get clear and tacky (about 30-60 seconds).
  7. Apply Gossamer® lashes 1-2 mm away from the water line.
  8. Fuse the Gossamer lashes using the Fuse Control Wand.
  9. Optional: Seal with Night Bond® and/or Glass.

In response to the many threads on tips for achieving longevity, Sahara Lotti, the CEO/Founder/Inventor of Lashify, made a cheeky-but-super-helpful post in the Lashify Life Facebook group, Lashify’s online community forum:

For some Lashifiends, this application method was a game-changer. She basically said, “Do the Lockdown Method, and even if you were stoned, and forgot what step you were on, it’s totally fine to do another light layer, then keep right on going!”

If you need a translator, here are the step-by-step instructions:

Stoner Method

  1. Apply a light coat of Black Whisper Light to the natural lashes.
  2. Allow the bond to get tacky for 20 seconds.
  3. Apply another light coat of Black Whisper Light to the base of the natural lashes.
  4. Allow the bond to get tacky for 20 seconds.
  5. Dot a light coat of Clear Whisper Light along the underside of the natural lashes, about 1-2 mm away from the water line.
  6. Allow the bond to get clear and tacky (about 30-60 seconds).
  7. Repeat steps 5 and 6.
  8. Apply Gossamer lashes 1-2 mm away from the water line.
  9. Fuse the Gossamer lashes using the Fuse Control® Wand.
  10. Optional: Seal with Night Bond and/or Glass.

Lashify Educators have also done live tutorials using this application method. Here’s a link to a full application demo if you want to follow along!

The point of the story is that while different bonding methods work differently for different skin and eye chemistry, the basics of Lashify are universal. Working in light layers with the bond, and allowing each layer to get tacky, just like applying layers of nail polish are the keys to a great application, in addition to proper lash prep and Gossamer placement, 1-2 mm away from the water line. You may find that you end up using different bonding methods according to your lifestyle, activities, and seasonal changes, but working with the patented Lashify bond will remain a simple and tactile approach that will become second nature as you move through more applications.
