Lash extensions are the perfect solution for lengthening your lashes and avoiding the mole rat look, but picking the length and style is about as anxiety-inducing as picking your nail color at the nail salon.
Spending hours in the chair to have your lashes done will give you time to overthink your entire life, and the fact that you are now locked into your current lash style for work, play, and every day of the week ending in “y.” Not that you can’t sport volume lashes to your 9-to-5, but if you want a look that’s still dramatic with a natural feel, hybrid lashes are your go-to.

Meet Your Hybrids
Anytime you get lash extensions, you’ll be getting one of three main styles. You’ll either have a classic set, a volume set, or a hybrid set.
Classic
These are the OG of lash extensions. The ratio of application is one to one, which means that for every natural eyelash, one synthetic eyelash will be applied. Classic lashes are also thicker in diameter but keep in mind that the thicker your synthetic lash, the heavier your set will feel.
Your natural lash length will affect how many extensions you get and how thick those extensions can be without making you feel weighed down. Classic lashes provide a perfect day-to-day look that mimics amazing mascara.
Volume
Volume lashes (Russian volume lashes) are applied with a fan technique. This means the individual synthetic lashes are bundled into a fan and applied to one lash, making the application ratio multiple to one.
For instance, you could have a fan that contains five lashes, which would make your application ratio five to one. The weight of volume lashes is less than classic lashes, which makes the lashes appear fluffier and helps your natural lashes support the increased volume.
These lashes are dramatic and great for special occasions or being the topic of office conversation because we’re not about to say you can’t be a little glamorous at work.
Hybrid
One of the most popular methods of lash lengthening is the hybrid set. Hybrid sets use a combination of classic and volume lashes to create a look that is incredibly natural. With hybrids, you’ll be using a mixed ratio of classic (one-to-one) lashes and volume (multiple-to-one) lashes.
The ratio of classic to volume can vary. You might have a 50/50 mix of classic to volume or a 70/30 mix of classic to volume. If you want more than 50% volume lashes, however, it’s probably best to go ahead and level up to volume lashes.

They’re the Perfect In Between
Sometimes you want a lot of glam; sometimes you want to dial it down. Hybrid lashes let you have your cake and eat it too. You’ll get the perfect marriage of drama and demure in a set of hybrid lashes.
They Look Natural
Classic and volume lashes applied in one length can look choppy or intentional. Hybrid lashes mimic your own lashes because they have varied lengths. They also can vary in thickness across your lash line, which is also a characteristic of your natural lashes.
Hybrids Fill In Gaps
Your natural lashes probably have gaps between lashes because your hair follicles aren’t evenly spaced. When you have a classic set, those gaps still remain. Hybrids can help fill in the gaps.
They also offer increased volume without feeling heavy. If your natural lashes are incredibly sparse, a classic st may add length, but it won’t help your lashes look more voluminous. Volume lashes might not be the best option because your natural lashes may not be able to support enough fans to increase the volume.
They Might Last Longer
There’s nothing worse than spending (essentially all) your time and money on a full set of lashes only to begin losing them within a few days. Sometimes, shedding happens too soon because the lash extensions are too heavy for your natural lashes.
Hybrid lashes have better staying-power, because they vary in weight and volume. For people with really thin, natural lashes, this could be the best way to make your lash sets last longer.

Lashify Gossamer lashes don’t need to be sealed, but if you’d like a glossy finish and added durability, use our waterproof finishing coat, Glass. Glass is also the perfect way to touch up your Gossamers after a few days of wearing them.
