Eyelash Extensions Pros and Cons

Eyelash Extensions Pros and ConsLashify

Eyelash extensions have been available to the general public for years now. They’re a pretty common occurrence within the beauty industry, and wearing false lashes as a daily part of your eye makeup routine has become as normal as wearing eyeliner and mascara.

The desire to enhance natural lashes grows with every new lash innovation, but despite this constant improvement to eyelash extensions and what they can bring to your look, there are still more than a few beauty babes out there that will live and die on strip lash mountain.

Don’t get us wrong, strip lashes have paved the way for many lash lovers to step into the arena with the big dogs, but that’s just it: the big dogs are at play. And with all of these alternative — and we’d argue, better — options available, we can’t help but wonder what’s making people cling so closely to their strip lashes? Is it wide availability? Easy access? Maybe the small learning curve?

If so, we understand the allure of all of those aspects. But what if we told you that all of those things and more are open to you, even with the use of eyelash extensions? Would it change the way you approach lash shopping? Would you book a lash technician ASAP and dump all of your crusty strip lashes in the trash?

Before you do anything too rash, keep reading. Getting eyelash extensions can benefit you, your wallet, and your makeup strategy, but this is Lashify® we’re talking about. With us, you won’t be getting run-of-the-mill lashes. Below you’ll find all the reasons we think making the switch to Lashify will benefit not only your lashes but also your entire lash experience, as well as some of the roadblocks to watch out for.

What’s the Difference: Strip Lashes vs Eyelash Extensions

Before we get into the nitty-gritty of eyelash extension pros and cons, let’s break down exactly what types of lashes we are talking about here: strip lashes vs extensions.

Strip lashes are a staple of the false lash. You can find these types of lashes in any department or beauty store, usually packaged as individual lash strips or a collection of multiple kinds. They are named for how they appear — a strip of lashes. You can find a few variations of the strip lash, but the most common is made of a synthetic fiber that’s easy to work with and holds curl well.

Other forms of these falsies include silk and mink (or faux-mink), but these can be a bit more finicky to work with as a beginner. It’s recommended to try a patch test before applying it to your entire eye, as mink lashes have been known to cause allergic reactions, too. Strip lashes are done without a lash tech by applying a generic form of lash glue to the strip, waiting for it to get tacky, and then applying it along your lash line to mimic a more dramatic version of your natural lashes.

Eyelash extensions, however, are a different story. There are multiple ways to do eyelash extensions, the most common of which is getting semi-permanent lash extensions done by a lash stylist.

These full set lashes are done at a salon, making them a lot pricier, and they usually last six to eight weeks without removal. This makes them desirable for people wanting to wear lashes daily without constant application. These types of eyelash extensions will usually need replacing following your natural lashes growth cycle.

The fake eyelashes we’re talking about today aren’t either of these. Lashify is on a level all its own, so without further ado, let’s get into what we really came to talk about.

Pros of Eyelash Extensions: Lashify Style

Lashify started to fill a gap in the market. We wanted lashes to be accessible and affordable, a concept most lash options make you choose between. Since 2016, Lashify has been working hard to create the optimal choice in the lash world, and here’s why:

1. Lashify Eyelash Extensions Are Affordable

These lashes are affordable and built to help you, not hinder you. One thing we strive for is making our lashes an option for everyone, no matter their finances.

We’ve worked to craft the highest quality products possible for a fraction of the market price, and that’s thanks to the system in place that allows users to completely DIY their lashes from beginning to end, which cuts out the middle man of a lash tech. With Lashify, you can Be Your Own Lash Tech™.

2. Lashify Eyelash Extensions Require Minimal Touch-ups

Minimal touch-ups and aftercare are requiredto maintain our lashes. Unlike the long-haul commitment of a professional lash application which requires almost daily cleaning, brushing, and doting, our lashes are fairly self-sufficient during wear. They only need the occasional cleanse from the buildup of makeup products and safe removal when all is said and done.

If minimal aftercare sounds appealing to you and your schedule, you might consider making the switch.

3. Lashify Eyelash Extensions Are User-Friendly

The Lashify system is user-friendly and easy to learn. While we do carry a few more advanced products for the more experienced user, everything you’d need for your first time with Lashify is easy to understand and even easier to use.

We provide guide videos and answer FAQs for any concerns or questions you might have when starting out to ensure you are fully equipped for the best experience possible.

4. You Don’t Have To Change Lashify Extensions Every Day

You won’t have to change these lashes daily. If you’re tired of the daily routine of applying and removing those pesky strip lashes but don’t want to pay an arm and a leg at a lash appointment, Lashify is the perfect meeting point.

Our lashes take no time at all to apply once you get the hang of it and will keep you looking like a baddie for up to 10 days with the proper application and care.

Cons of Eyelash Extensions

For every good, there must also be a bad — as sad as we are to say. The good news is that all of these potential issues are 1. Issues you’ll find with any kind of lash, and 2. Completely avoidable!

Here are a few snares and traps to look out for when switching to more semi-permanent lashes.

1. Risk of Blepharitis

You can develop blepharitis. We had to say it! We don’t enjoy talking about it just as much as you don’t enjoy hearing about it, but it can creep up on you if you’re not careful, and you’ll enjoy dealing with it even less.

Blepharitis is a condition that affects the eye area when the care of your natural eyelashes — and false eyelashes — isn’t up to par. If you find your eyelids have become red, puffy, itchy, or flaky and lose their natural look, talk to your dermatologist or doctor ASAP. You might be dealing with an eye infection.

You might be at greater risk of developing blepharitis if you already have conditions like rosacea, oily skin, dandruff, and allergies that affect your lashes.

2. Potential Damage to Natural Lashes

If done wrong, your natural lashes could be affected. Lashify is designed to nourish and hydrate your lashes and eye area, but as with everything, if done in error, your natural lashes could be the ones getting hurt. We recommend taking your time to learn the right methods and allow for temporary mistakes before committing to full wear with the Gossamers®.

3. Eyelash Extensions Can Take Some Getting Used To

If you’re not accustomed to eyelash extensions, starting to wear something more intense, like a volume lash, for more than a day can definitely take some adjusting. We advise trying them out for a shorter period in this scenario to make sure you can make it through all 10 days without too much discomfort.

Make the Switch

If you’re considering making the change from your traditional strip lash ways, here are a few of our staples that will help you get where you want to go! A Gossamer® from our Core Collection™ — Curl, Bold, or Amplify Gossamer Lashes —are the perfect go-to for your first time.

Our Whisper Light™ Bond will work wonders in lowering the difficulty of other lash extensions. This bond will tack up fast and ensure a solid hold. The Glass Finishing Coat helps remove any leftover adhesive and leaves your new lashes with a natural glossy shine.

And when you’re ready to change up your sets and need to remove the one you’ve got, our Melt Away Remover will have those Gossies® slipping away in seconds, completely pain-free and easy.

Cruelty-free, vegan, oil-free, and premium quality is all you’ll find, so what are you waiting for? Ditch those old strip lashes and trade them in for a bigger and better you.
