The leaves are changing, the air is getting crisp and that only means one thing…it’s time for New York Fashion Week.
This year, NYFW ran from Friday, September 8 through Wednesday, September 13, 2023 and Lashify was not only in attendance, but had a big presence. Every year, fashion week brings editors, influencers, celebrities, designers and models from all around the country to one place. It creates waves in the fashion industry and sets the trends for the upcoming season, and this year’s Fashion Week…did not disappoint. Lashify had the honor of sponsoring an event and a fashion show this year.
The first sponsorship was an event on opening day of Fashion Week - The Black Beauty Roster luncheon. The Black Beauty Roster (BBR), founded by Maude Okrah, connects the TV, film, fashion, commercial and beauty industries with diverse beauty professionals for on and off-set needs. Their goal is to bring meaningful diversity and representation across the fashion and entertainment industry by amplifying the work and talent of Black Beauty Professionals. The luncheon was held to honor and award beauty professionals within the industry.
The beautiful event took place at Spring Place - an exclusive NYC Members-only club. The decor was stunning and the fashion was breathtaking. Leaders in the beauty industry were in attendance. The event started off with a cocktail hour where attendees could mingle amongst themselves, take pictures in front of the flower-adorned BBR couch, create their own personalized Ipsy Glam Bag and, of course, learn about Lashify and have lashes applied to them.
Lashify’s CEO and Founder, Sahara Lotti, was also in attendance, was happily showing off her invention, and even applying lashes onto guests herself. Once the luncheon began, panels of makeup artists and hairstylists who have paved their way to the top of the industry gave us insight into their climb to the top and the struggles they have faced to get there. Awards were presented, heartfelt speeches were heard, and our very own Sahara Lotti was given the honor of presenting the Legacy Award to Danessa Myricks. Guests left feeling inspired, and got the opportunity to leave with a gift bag containing beauty products, including their very own Lashify Control Kit®.
The next event that Lashify took part in was the SixDo Fashion Show. SixDo is a fashion label, launched by the talented Vietnamese fashion designer, Do Manh Cuong. The SIXDO brand aspires to create humane social values and become a way of life to accompany women on the journey to empathize with their own beauty. The designs during the show contained intricate detail, inspired by New York’s distinct forward-facing fashion. The key makeup artist for the show, Hung Vanngo, knew he wanted to create a look that didn’t take away from the designs, was fresh faced, and all about the lashes…….that’s where we came in.
Lashify sent a team of 3 to work the show and apply lashes to all 30 models. When Hung and I spoke about the look he wanted for the models, he stated that the look was "90’s supermodel" and he wanted a lash look that would create the illusion of a cat eye. Right then, I knew we had the PERFECT lash…..the I-Line™ Gossamer® Lash. The new style (that isn’t even available for purchase yet) is patent-pending and is like nothing you’ve ever seen in the lash industry. This lash is pre-mapped and mimics the appearance of eyeliner. During the makeup test, two nights before the show, we applied the I-Line™ lashes to a model, and after 2 Gossamer™ Lashes were placed on the eye, we knew it was perfect.
The makeup, the hair, the fashion, and the lashes all complimented each other perfectly. The show contained 50 high end, sophisticated looks that wow-ed the crowd. We can’t wait until Spring to do it all over again and then some!!!
