What Are My Lash Options?
There’s more to lash enhancement than just pricey salon extensions. The good news is that new technology has advanced at-home lash extensions so they last longer, look more natural, and are even healthier for your natural lashes. The bad news: you just haven’t met them yet.
Most of us start our at-home eyelash extension journey with the OG of at-home false eyelashes: the strip lash. These extensions are notorious for not looking natural, being difficult to apply, and coming loose at the most inopportune times. Hard pass. Don’t worry; there are numerous other options.
Magnetic Lashes
The first time you hear about magnetic lashes, you’ll probably be shaking your head. How? Why? It’s not that complicated. Magnetic lashes work like strip lashes but with a magnetic eyeliner adhesive as opposed to lash glue or other lash adhesive.
Using a liquid eyeliner that contains iron oxides, you’ll draw a line close to your natural lash line and then snap the set of lashes to the eyeliner using tiny magnets attached to the lash band. These lashes aren’t made to be worn for more than a few hours (no overnight wear), and it’s important to realize that application can be tricky if you aren’t a pro with liquid eyeliner.
These types of lashes are often heavier on the lid than some people like. Bottom line: These aren't the solution if you don’t want to deal with liquid eyeliner and want lashes that last longer than a few hours.
A Lash Lift
Getting curly lashes that last is possible without an eyelash curler. A lash lift is essentially a perm for your eyelashes. At a salon, your eyelashes will be curled over a small cylinder while a curling solution is applied to your individual lashes.
A lash lift can last about three to four weeks and make your eyes appear more open, but it won’t lengthen your lashes or make them appear thicker. While it gives a truly natural look, if you want more volume and length, you’ll need a different type of lash enhancement.
Cluster Lashes
Like individual eyelash extensions, cluster lashes are applied to each lash — with a twist. A cluster lash has several lash fibers bound together and attached to the individual lash or as close to the lash line as possible.
To attach, you’ll use a lash glue or lash adhesive. Cluster lashes work to help you fill in areas of sparse lashes, adding volume more naturally than you can with a strip of false lashes. Because cluster lashes are applied at a ratio of multiple lash fibers to one natural lash, they can sometimes be heavy.
Depending on the brand you choose and how they are applied, you may be able to wear cluster lashes longer than traditional strip lashes. Remember that if you plan to apply them to your natural lashes yourself, you’ll need some practice.

Our Lash Bonds
At Lashify, we knew we didn’t want to use harsh lash glues. The lash glue found in salons or in DIY kits is harsh on your natural lashes and can even irritate sensitive skin. They contain ingredients like formaldehyde and cyanoacrylates.
Our Lash Bonds work more like lash serums. They contain biotin and lavender to help support your natural lash growth, and they never fully cure. That means they don’t harden, making your natural lashes brittle and prone to breakage.
