Lash Perfection: Your Essential Extensions Kit Guide

Lash Perfection: Your Essential Extensions Kit GuideLashify

This is your year. You’re taking back your time and your money and finally learning to DIY some of the self-care items on your list. One of those items: your lash extensions.

It seems like a big ask: doing your own lashes at home. Don’t worry; the team of lash professionals at Lashify™ has your back. With a little guidance and the right tools, you can get the gorgeous eyelash extensions you love without ever leaving your house.

Let’s cover the basics, like what you’ll need, how to use each item, and how to build your starter kit so you can perfect DIY lash extensions in no time.

What’s Available

When we talk about at-home eyelash extension kits, there are essentially three types available: strip lashes, lash clusters, and Lashify Gossamer® lashes.

Strip Lashes

Strip lashes are the lashes you are likely most familiar with. They come packaged in two pieces, one for each eye. Each extension is adhered to a lash band that you will attempt (with a lot of practice) to get as close to your natural lash line as possible. Usually, it ends up somewhere on the lower portion of your eyelid.

Strip lashes almost always need to be trimmed down to fit the actual length of your eye, and the adhesive used will either be a sticky tape-like substance found on the back of the band or a lash glue.

Cluster Lashes

Cluster lashes have risen in popularity because they give an alternative to individual lash extensions (which are virtually impossible to apply at home) and look more like salon lashes than strip lashes.

Lash clusters are bundles of lash fibers affixed to one bulb that attach to your lash line or to an individual eyelash. While these are a good solution for achieving a high-volume lash, they can be heavy on your lid and lashes and tricky to attach.

Cluster lashes are notorious for popping off and winding up on your cheek (or on your plate) and can leave you wishing you’d opted for something else.

Lashify Gossamer® Lashes

Lashify Gossamer lashes are built differently. First, they’re cruelty-free and made from 100% Korean PBT silk. Second, there is nothing quite like them available in the DIY lash extension market. They’re best described as a cross between a strip lash and a cluster lash.

Each Gossamer lash contains numerous fibers (more or less depending on the amount of volume you want) attached to a featherlight spine. This allows the weight of more voluminous lashes to be evenly distributed across your natural lashes for more comfortable wear.

The Tools You’ll Need

If you plan to get professional eyelashes at home, you’ll need a few tools. You’ll need high-quality lashes, like our Gossamers, and you’ll need some type of lash adhesive.

Lash adhesives can be damaging to your natural eyelashes and even damaging to your extensions. Here are the most popular types of lash extension adhesives available.

Lash Glue

The OG of lash extension products, lash glue is one of the most popular lash supplies available. It’s also used by virtually every salon lash artist you’ll find. Lash glue, unfortunately, contains some ingredients that aren’t safe for your skin, eyes, or even your natural lashes.

Cyanoacrylates and formaldehyde, the same ingredients found in super glue, are often found in lash glues. These ingredients can cause your lashes to harden and become brittle, making them more likely to break, taking the lash extension with them.

Magnetic Lashes

Some types of lashes adhere to your lash line with the use of magnets. Tiny magnets on the back of the lash band adhere to iron oxide eyeliner applied to your lash line.

This eliminates the need for glue, but these types of lashes can often feel heavy, and they can’t be worn overnight or for more than one day.

Bonds

Lashify uses Bonds to adhere our Gossamer lashes to your natural lashes. Bonds contain no harsh chemicals and work more like a nourishing lash serum than an adhesive.

They contain biotin and lavender to help support your natural lashes and never fully cure, so they remain flexible on your lashes. We recommend Bonds over glues and magnets because they are better for your natural lashes and help protect reusable lash extensions (like Gossamer lashes).

Applicators

When it comes to lash applicators, you’ll likely be tempted to grab a pair of tweezers. Don’t do it. Tweezers were never designed to help you apply lashes; you’ll never find them in any extension starter kit.

Instead, opt for a tool designed to protect your lash extensions and natural lashes. The Lashify Fuse Control Wand® was ergonomically designed to help you apply your Gossamer lashes. It’s curved to the shape of your eye and rests comfortably in your hand so that you can get an easy application each and every time you apply your lashes.

For smaller faces and hands, the Petit Curve Wand is the solution. The Petit Curve Wand gives you the same curve and control as the original Fuse Control Wand but on a smaller scale. We also offer The Birdie® Wand, which is the essential tool you’ll need for on-the-go and travel.

Aftercare Essentials

Taking the best possible care of your lashes will help them last longer and stay on your lash line for the full amount of time they’re designed to stay. Gossamer lashes are designed to stay on for up to 10 days with proper care.

One of the best ways to care for your lashes is by adding a sealer. Glass Finishing Coat is a great option that can help seal your bonds and keep them protected so you can wear your lashes longer.

If you’re wondering where you can get all these new products in one convenient place, you’ve found it. The Lashify Control Kit™ gives you everything you need to get started.

The Starter Kit You Need

Whether you want classic lashes, volume lashes, or hybrid lashes, you need the tools to get the job done correctly. You’ll find everything you need (including two pairs of Gossamer lashes) in our Control Kit.

Each Control Kit comes with:

  • Two sets of Gossamer lashes. Choose from mega volume styles, lowkey 9-5 lashes, or even colored lashes. Whatever look you want, we’ve got a Gossamer lash to match. You can even build customized lash looks using our Lash Maps. Your Control Kit comes with two sets of Gossamers that you can custom-choose to begin building your lash wardrobe.
  • Fuse Control® Wand. Say no to tweezers. The only tool you’ll ever need comes in two convenient sizes and is even available as a travel product. Pick the color that inspires your lash creativity.
  • One set of Wandoms®. Because Lashify uses Bonds instead of glue, you’ll notice that application is slightly tacky. Wandoms ensure you don’t get caught in a sticky situation. Wandoms cover the ends of your Fuse Control Wand to protect your Gossamers from sticking to it instead of your natural lashes.
  • Whisper Light Bond™. One of our most popular Bonds, Whisper Light feels lightweight but does hard work keeping your Gossamer lashes affixed to your natural lashes. Available in clear and black, it never leaves behind a sticky or visible residue and can be applied with a mascara spoolie or a fine tip.
  • Glass Finishing Coat. To seal the deal, add a coat of Glass. Glass protects your Bonds and helps you get the longest amount of wear from one application. If you plan to wear your Gossamer lashes overnight or for a few days, we highly recommend using Glass.
  • Samples. Included in each Control Kit are two samples: Pre Cleanse and Melt Away. Pre Cleanse is our Japanese Cleansing Water that helps you cleanse your lashes and prep them for Gossamer application. It’s also usable as a facial cleanser. You’ll also get a sample of Melt Away, our dual-phase, oil-based makeup remover.

Everything you need comes in one easy, convenient, and hard case to keep your tools and Gossamer lashes safe.

Make Your Kit Your Own

Your Control Kit is fully customizable when you pick your own Gossamer lashes and the size and color of your Fuse Control Wand. You can also add additional products to your first order to make sure you have everything you want to get started. If you can’t decide between three sets of Gossamer lashes, we recommend adding that third set to your cart!

So go ahead, grab the tools you need to Be Your Own Lash Tech™ and experience the system that reviews call a “10/10.”
