Bond and Seal vs. Lash Glue
Ever have a lash extension come loose at the most inopportune time? It can be embarrassing and completely uncomfortable, and if you don’t have a little lash glue with you, you’re pretty much out of luck.
Even if you have salon lash extensions, the glues used aren’t permanent, and you can end up with an extension in your eye or drifting daintily down your cheek mid-conversation. There has to be a better solution or perhaps a better glue.
There is. There’s an alternative to lash glue, and it’s called bond and seal. We’ll talk about the pros and cons of both glues and bonds and help you decide which is best for your lashes.
What Is Lash Glue?
Traditionally, lash extensions have always required lash glue. Lash glue works similarly to superglue because it has some of the very same ingredients.
Cyanoacrylates and formaldehyde-releasing chemicals are found in super glue, salon-grade lash glue, and many of the over-the-counter lash glues available on the market.
While these ingredients make the glue strong, they also damage your natural lashes, eyes, and skin. If you have sensitive eyes and skin, you might not even be able to use it.
Lash glue can also cause your natural lashes to become hard and brittle. When your natural lashes are hardened with glue, they are more likely to break, taking the attached extension with them. Because your lashes are on a natural growth cycle, you’ll be without a lash in that particular hair follicle until the new lash pushes through.
The Good on Glue
We’ve covered the bad news on glue, but there are some benefits to using lash glue. Typically, lash glue will hold your lash extensions in place tightly until you’re ready to have them removed.
It should be noted that removing your lash extensions can be more difficult when lash glue is involved. If you have salon lash extensions, it’s important to see your lash tech to have them professionally removed. Don’t attempt to remove them yourself, or you could risk damage to your natural lashes.
Bond and Seal
Bond and seal lashes work differently than lash glue lashes. Bonds are generally formulated without cyanoacrylates and formaldehyde. Lashify™ Bonds, for instance, contain biotin and lavender, which are lash nourishing ingredients.
Lashify Bonds never fully cure like lash glue. That means they remain somewhat tacky during the application process.
The tackiness is important because it helps your lash extensions adhere to your natural lashes, and it’s also important because it prevents your natural lashes from becoming hard and brittle, reducing the amount of breakage you experience.
When you use bond and seal lashes, an additional step helps ensure your lash extensions adhere to your natural lashes properly. At Lashify, we refer to this as Fusing. Fusing is the process of sealing your lash extensions to your natural lashes to ensure the Bond is fully activated and your lashes stay in place.
Fusing Lashify Gossamer® lashes is easy and different from other ways you might have tried to adhere DIY lashes. In fact, everything about the Lashify DIY Lash Extension™ system is different.
The Lashify Difference
With Lashify, Your Stripping Days Are Over®. No more awkward strip lashes or hours spent at the lash salon. Instead, we offer a solution for getting salon-quality lashes in a fraction of the time and for a fraction of the cost.
Our Gossamer Lashes
Always 100% cruelty-free, our Gossamer lashes are made from Korean PBT silk that mimics mink without any mink involvement. Each Gossamer contains multiple lash fibers attached to a featherlight spine, which helps distribute the weight of more voluminous Gossamers evenly across several of your own natural lashes.
Our Technique
Gossamer lashes are applied using Underlash Technology™. This means you can apply your Gossamer lashes beneath your natural lashes, close to your waterline.
This method of application is more forgiving if you don’t place your lashes perfectly, and it also helps your lashes look more natural and feel more comfortable. You’ll use a Fuse technique to seal your lashes using your Fuse Control Wand®.
The Fuse Control Wand is our ergonomically developed Wand that naturally hugs the curve of your eyelid and feels comfortable in your hand, making Gossamer application a breeze.
Fuse Techniques
You can fuse your Lashify Gossamer ® lashes one of two ways: the full fuse or the reverse fuse.
- Full Fuse. To perform a full fuse, you’ll use the end of your Fuse Control Wand with the curve angled against your eye. You’ll press the curved end of your Wand down across your entire lash line for this fuse style.
- Reverse Fuse. For this type of fuse, you’ll turn your Wand around so that the curve is angled outward, away from your eye. This Fuse works well for fusing a small section (like one Gossamer at a time).

Seal the Deal: The Control Kit
Everything you need to get started with Lashify can be found in our fully customizable Control Kit™. It gives you the tools you need, along with two sets of Gossamer lashes, all wrapped up in a hard, protective case that also doubles as a mirrored lash-styling tool.
Each Control Kit contains:
Two Sets of Gossamer Lashes
With so many options, you might find it hard to choose. We recommend taking your time. Choose your favorite style, your most desired curl, and the length that works best for you. You can also use one of our Lash Maps to help you pick different sets of Gossamers that play well together to create new looks.
Our very first pre-mapped Gossamer collection, the I-Line™ Gossamer, gives you the look of a perfect winged liner without any of the expertise or eyeliner required. This set gives you the look of eyeliner without the liner. The I-Line Gossamer collection has a tapered edge that gives the illusion of a perfect winged liner.
Fuse Control® Wand
Tweezers need not apply. The Fuse Control Wand was literally designed for Gossamer application, and it’s the only tool you’ll ever need to apply your Gossamer lashes perfectly each and every time.
For smaller hands and faces, the Petit Curve Wand is the solution.
One set of Wandoms®
Don’t be a fool, protect your tool! The tackiness of bonds means they are helping protect your natural lashes from becoming hard and brittle, and to make sure you don’t get into a sticky situation, we recommend Wandoms to protect the tips of your Fuse Control Wand. Wandoms ensure your Gossamer lashes only adhere to your lashes, not your Wand.
Whisper Light Bond™
One of our most popular Bonds, Whisper Light is available in both clear and black. It’s a lightweight Bond that never leaves behind a sticky or gooey residue and helps keep your lashes adhered tightly.
Whisper Light is available with a dual tip for application that you can either comb through your natural lashes or apply directly at the base, close to your waterline. This gives you the ability to customize the application as needed.
Glass Finishing Coat
You never have to seal your Gossamer lashes to ensure they last, but if you plan to wear them overnight or for as long as possible (up to 10 days with proper care), we recommend sealing them with Glass.
If you decide to wear your Gossamer lashes overnight, it’s best to try it once you’ve gotten used to the application process. In other words, don’t attempt to wear your Gossamer lashes overnight the first time you apply them.
Samples
Prep and clean up are important, and we developed two products that help you prep your lashes for Gossamer application and remove them with ease. Pre Cleanse is our Japanese Cleansing Water that cleanses your lashes and lids to prepare them for application. It also does double duty as a facial cleanser.
You’ll also get a sample of Melt Away, our dual-phase, oil-based makeup remover that helps you easily slide your Gossamer lashes off of your natural lashes, keeping both safe.
Once you’re in, you’ll also get access to our tutorials and a community of Lashify users who are creating bold, new lash looks they want to share.
