New York Fashion Week is always an exciting time for luxury fashion and beauty. We get to see the upcoming trends in clothing, makeup, hair, and the pros all get to flex their mastery and creativity in their crafts. Since Lashify entered the beauty scene in 2018, makeup artists have been able to reimagine the use of lashes in their beauty looks for campaigns, runway, film and television, and red carpet and events.
As a makeup artist myself, I no longer feel like a slave to the lash! We used to have to cater our makeup techniques to accommodate for the strip lash band that needed to be camouflaged, or suffered achy necks and backs and cramping fingers to painstakingly apply individual lashes. Not only is that now just a memory of the rites of passage in beauty, but now there’s more control over the entire beauty look – we can alter the shape of the eyes, and the artist’s work is enhanced.
This year, Lashify had the pleasure of sponsoring the SIMKHAI Spring/Summer 2025 fashion show, and it is always an honor to be part of designers’ showcases to the world. “A silk flower petal once attached to the dress worn by his mother on her wedding day, September 7, 1972, was the inspiration for the Spring/Summer 2025 Collection.” (@simkhai Instagram)
For makeup, the key artist’s job is to come up with a look that best complements the inspiration for the collection. Here’s what Key Makeup Artist, Diane Kendal, had to say about the look she created for the show:
For the look for Jonathan Simkhai I’m using multiple Gossamers of the I-line™ lashes to lift the outer corner of the models’ eyes. We wanted to focus on the outer half of the eye so we left the inner part completely bare. No mascara, no shadow. Some of the girls have a graphic straight line, and the tapered shape of the I-lines beautifully complement the graphic flick without adding bulk to the lashline.
The I-Line™ Gossamer® lash, one of 27 lash styles that Lashify has to offer, is a great go-to style for when you want a look that is simple and understated, yet impactful. Designed to mimic the look of eyeliner, the angled fiber pattern, relaxed curl, and pre-mapped lengths give you an elegant, classic look. Diane Kendal’s choice to use these lashes on just the outer corners of the 34 models’ eyes gave the look an understated edge.
